Break and Run!
The phrase ‘break and run’ is important.
Our goal in self-defense is to get away.
We can’t run if we don’t breakaway.
Breaking away is only effective if the techniques you’ve been taught actually work. We only run when it is safe to do so.
If the moves that you’ve been taught only work when you have a willing partner - who knows that they’re supposed to let go – then you are in deep trouble!!
I don’t blindly trust every move I’m taught in self defense classes, and neither should you.
I test them. I work with someone I trust and together we test the effectiveness.
If they don’t work, I don’t practice them.
If they don’t work, I won’t teach them.
